Hand-carved from rich green kahurangi pounamu, each handle shaped from a single piece of stone with pale inanga banding running through the grip, and polished to a deep, glassy finish. The carving knife carries a 12C27 Swedish stainless steel blade; the fork is 15N20 carbon steel with a hard chrome finish, both forged by Svord.
This set is a collaboration between two makers, each with more than 40 years at their craft. Bryan Baker forges his Svord blades in Waiuku, south of Auckland, hardened and tempered in-house. Lee-Roy Mullings (Ngāti Kahungunu) has shaped pounamu in his Arrowtown workshop for four decades.
One of a kind, the set pictured is the one you'll receive. Arrives in a wooden presentation box.
Durability: While pounamu (greenstone) is celebrated for its robustness, its dense nature makes it vulnerable to shock. Handle with care to maintain its integrity.
Protection: Avoid placing or wearing your pounamu on hard surfaces where it might get chipped.
Wear Often: Wear your pounamu frequently to enhance its shine with your natural skin oils. The cord is durable but will naturally wear over time.
Cleaning: Simply use a soft, damp cloth and mild soap for your pounamu. Beeswax or coconut oil can also be applied to moisturise the stone. Avoid harsh chemicals, as they may harm its surface.
Within NZ courier: $4.50 or Free delivery on orders over $100 (1-2 days)
