The handle is hand-carved from New Zealand pounamu, shaped and polished from a single stone, its colour and grain unlike any other. A brass guard sets it against the blade.
The blade is bird & trout, carbon steel, hardened and tempered in-house, a fine, slender knife made for dressing birds and fish, and just as at home on the kitchen bench.
A collaboration between two makers: Lee-Roy Mullings (Ngāti Kahungunu), who has carved pounamu in Arrowtown for four decades, and Bryan Baker, who makes his Svord blades in Waiuku.
The knife pictured is the one you'll receive. Supplied with a leather sheath, and guaranteed against breakage under normal use.
Blade 3¼″ (83 mm)
Overall 7¾″ (197 mm)
Durability: While pounamu (greenstone) is celebrated for its robustness, its dense nature makes it vulnerable to shock. Handle with care to maintain its integrity.
Protection: Avoid placing or wearing your pounamu on hard surfaces where it might get chipped.
Wear Often: Wear your pounamu frequently to enhance its shine with your natural skin oils. The cord is durable but will naturally wear over time.
Cleaning: Simply use a soft, damp cloth and mild soap for your pounamu. Beeswax or coconut oil can also be applied to moisturise the stone. Avoid harsh chemicals, as they may harm its surface.
Within NZ courier: $4.50 or Free delivery on orders over $100 (1-2 days)
International delivery: Fees vary depending on country.
Returns: easy returns within 5 working days. Please contact us on hello@arrowtownstonework.co.nz
