Cut from deep green pounamu and finished to a signature polish, this porowhita shows the depth of colour the stone is known for, dark greens shifting under light, with pale mineral veins held at the edges where the polished face meets natural stone. The disc hangs from a sterling silver fitting and stands on a slab of raw pounamu, split face up.
Carved by Lee-Roy Mullings (Ngāti Kahungunu).
The porowhita is the circle, a form with no beginning and no end. It speaks to continuity, the cycle of life, and the bonds that hold people together. This piece is a display work, made to sit where it can be seen. It arrives with a card on its meaning.
Disc: 80 x 80 x 3 (mm)
Base: 120 x 55 x 6 (mm)
Durability: While pounamu (greenstone) is celebrated for its robustness, its dense nature makes it vulnerable to shock. Handle with care to maintain its integrity.
Protection: Avoid placing or wearing your pounamu on hard surfaces where it might get chipped.
Wear Often: Wear your pounamu frequently to enhance its shine with your natural skin oils. The cord is durable but will naturally wear over time.
Cleaning: Simply use a soft, damp cloth and mild soap for your pounamu. Beeswax or coconut oil can also be applied to moisturise the stone. Avoid harsh chemicals, as they may harm its surface.
Within NZ courier: $4.50 or Free delivery on orders over $100 (1-2 days)
International delivery: Fees vary depending on country.
Returns: easy returns within 5 working days. Please contact us on hello@arrowtownstonework.co.nz
