Carved from Flower pounamu by Ross Crump, who has carved pounamu for over fifty years. A round disc, its face opening into a koru that spirals inward from the outer edge. It hangs from a 9k gold bail that carries the tiki form. Set by Andy Mills, our Arrowtown jeweller, whose work centres on the pairing of pounamu and gold.
The Porowhita's endless circle reflects a lifelong journey of self-discovery and renewal, while the Koru's unfurling form embodies new beginnings and inner peace. The tiki carried in the bail is one of the most treasured Māori designs, symbolising ancestry, protection and identity.
Presented on a gold-plated sterling silver chain, in an eco-friendly box with a meaning and care card.
40 x 40 x 5.5 (mm)
Durability: While pounamu (greenstone) is celebrated for its robustness, its dense nature makes it vulnerable to shock. Handle with care to maintain its integrity.
Protection: Avoid placing or wearing your pounamu on hard surfaces where it might get chipped.
Wear Often: Wear your pounamu frequently to enhance its shine with your natural skin oils. The cord is durable but will naturally wear over time.
Cleaning: Simply use a soft, damp cloth and mild soap for your pounamu. Beeswax or coconut oil can also be applied to moisturise the stone. Avoid harsh chemicals, as they may harm its surface.
